Lets begin with this simple practice and see how it makes you feel. Get your journal and take 10 minutes for yourself without any distractions. Be sure to carve the time/space to be alone and in a quiet place for this practice. Set your timer for 10 minutes and begin to write down EVERYTHING that comes to mind.
This exercise is called a “brain dump” and it helps to create a sense of mental clarity by allowing all of the random “must-do’s” and other subconscious thoughts to literally be written down on paper. Even if you just draw.
This practice will help you to release a lot of the “obligations” the subconscious mind has held onto because you allow them to be written down instead. The need to remember EVERYTHING is no longer there, because it’s been addressed in the journal.
You might find it a bit difficult to continue writing for the entire 10 minutes at first, but just keep writing. It doesn’t matter what comes to your mind, just let it out. If you find too much difficulty to “just keep writing” try and consider your intentions. Why do you want to become more mindful? Who do you want to become more mindful for? Why?
Just keep diving deeper.
During this practice you’ll remember things you didn’t even consider worth remembering (write it down anyway). You might even draw if you’re the doodle bug type. This is a great sign that the exercise is working.
You will notice a considerable amount of weight has been released immediately after those 10 minutes. I pinky promise. Enjoy.
